Kai Partale was responsible from 2016-2018 for the preparation of sustainable tourism development strategies for five tourism destinations, a capacity building programme for tourism stakeholders and decision-makers and the implementation of the strategies and action plans, including the development of promotional videos, print and online materials.

The EU supported Vietnam in promoting environmentally and socially responsible tourism within the 12.1 million EUR project "Environmentally and Socially Responsible Tourism Capacity Development Programme".
The project was supported by an international consortium led by GOPA mbH from 2011 - 2016. As an Advisor and Acting Team Leader Kai Partale was responsible for the sector coordination and HRD from 2012 - 2015.

The high number of visitors at the Mongolia Forum, the press conference as well as the well-attended side events documented the media's, the tour operators and potential end users interst of the tourism destination Mongolia.

As Team Leader in Yemen Kai Partale was responsible within the 7 million EUR project "Strengthening Priority Areas of Vocational Training" for strengthening the vocational training sector through the establishment of a national hotel and tourism institute, that included the introduction of demand-driven occupations.
The project was implemented by German Education and Training GmbH from 2000-2006 on behalf of the EU.
